About
Imagine a world where any community can launch a bike share program using the existing infrastructure instead of investing millions of tax payer dollars. This is Velotag. Velotag was created to allow communities launch bike share programs at a fraction of time and costs required by traditional bike share technologies with higher network density and coverage and built-in gaming and viral mechanisms to increase usage. Any cafe, shop, hotel or another public place can become a bicycle station and thus attract additional visitors. Staff of these places gives out and receives the bicycle keys from users. To get the bike user has to scan a QR-code on the bicycle frame and ask the staff for the key. A simple verification process takes less than 5 seconds of staff time. Any bicycle owner can register his fleet in the system and get money for rides made on his bikes. A system is already in operation in Saint-Petersburg and Moscow (Russia).
